Step 1. Click the "Messages" symbol on your Facebook homepage. The Messages symbol is located in the top left edge as well as looks like 2 small overlapping speech bubbles.

Warning
Deleting a private message in your Messages inbox does not remove it from the inbox of your discussion partner.
